Abstract:
The aim is to prepare a study about teaching students during the quarantine period during Covid 19. When schools were closed not only in the Czech Republic.
In times of crisis, it is easier to work, learn and teach over the internet. The best-known example is, of course, contemporary time when the whole world is struggling with the consequences of a coronavirus pandemic. However, this trend did not start with the first wave of the pandemic and will not end with the last wave. Of course, these events will significantly speed up the introduction of distance work and distance education.
However, a situation where people have to work from home is different from a situation where a worker has a choice. The structure of employees also differs. Excluding crisis situations, those who prefer this way of working work in such a way. These are mostly typical professions that have been working in this way since the 1990s. These are, for example, translators, network administrators or journalists. These people enjoy the benefits of teleworking and know the pitfalls of this work. In times of crisis situations, when most workers have to start working like this mostly without preparation, this situation is difficult not only for them, but especially for their management, that often has no experience with this type of work.
Under certain conditions, it is possible for an employee to work remotely during the period of illness. However, the work must not endanger his health condition, and therefore it is necessary to consult this eventuality with a medical doctor. The employee must be properly motivated for such an opportunity. The most common motive for this type of work is the difference between the worker's salary and sickness benefits. The main advantage for such a solution is the isolation of a sick person who could otherwise infect a large part of the company's employees.
As regards the methodology, a qualitative and quantitative approach was applied. In-depth interviews were conducted in order to find out not only the behavior of the respondents, but also their reasons, motives and goals. We used a semi-structured interview consisting of interview preparation, self-interviewing, interview transcription, interview reflection and data analysis. The respondents are mainly teachers. The interviews were conducted via Facebook and Microsoft Teans.
As part of the quantitative method, questionnaires focused on students were conducted. Most questions are closed due to the possibility of statistical evaluation. The questionnaires are placed in an online environment and both descriptive statistics and correlations, regression, are used in their evaluation. Questionnaires are used to verify hypotheses obtained from qualitative research. This research could be compared with 2004, when a similar survey was conducted in the current school year. Keywords:
