Abstract:
The article solves the problem of studying the prerequisites for the emergence of such a peculiarity of modern people as clip thinking. It was found that the characteristics of such thinking style can be attributed to an adaptive way of behaving in a congested information space, which leads to the fact that the brain of those who study is not able to comprehend the connection between events due to the illusory idea of the possibility of finding out the answer to any question. As a result, the need to remember information, to comprehend it is leveled, which causes changes in thinking.

The purpose of the article is to determine the signs of clip thinking of modern pupils / students – representatives of the digital generation, to study the peculiarities of the cognitive processes of pupils / students, which are derived from clip thinking, the negative and positive aspects of this type of thinking.

The grounds are highlighted that allow to assert that clip thinking prevails among modern pupils / students. These include: reduced ability to analyze and search for the meaning of activity; fragmentary division and mosaicism of the world picture; lack of ability for logical constructions, for long and intense study loads; underdevelopment of the sensory sphere, disdain for the observance of ethical and aesthetic standards; a penchant for simple solutions with “clip style” problem solving.

It is theoretically substantiated that clip thinking, which manifests itself in modern pupils / students, displaces and replaces logical thinking, a certain level of which is provided for by existing teaching methods. That is why, the main purpose of the study was to study the "clip-like-integrity" of thinking of pupils / students by questioning teachers of secondary schools and teachers of higher educational institutions (522 respondents from all regions of Ukraine).

The article presents the authors’ methodology for studying this phenomenon based on an online questionnaire, which made it possible to analyze the information received, its classification and grouping of identified trends, as well as to determine the strategic directions of its implementation. The questionnaires were created in Google form and offered to teachers in Ukraine through the social networks Facebook and Viber. Primary school teachers were the most interested (47%), while university teachers accounted for almost 17%. The survey was also attended by teachers of mathematics (29.3%), physics (6%), computer science (9.2%), Ukrainian language and literature (5.6%), etc. with more than 20 years of work experience (51.1%) and pedagogical workers-beginners (20.2%).

One of the key questions of the questionnaire is the understanding by teachers of the essence of clip thinking and its manifestations in the process of teaching students. The respondents' opinions were distributed as follows: 75.2% believe that clip thinking is associated with a high speed of attention switching from one object to another through short vivid images and specific links, for example, in the form of short video clips; and 28.3% of pedagogical workers are of the opinion that this is one of the types of thinking that reflects the variety of properties of objects without a connection between them. But all teachers are unanimous that over the past 5 years, pupils / students have been showing signs of clip thinking and properties that are derived from it.
