Abstract:
The paper is based on the current research project focused on the analysis of the use of teaching methods in primary education. If a school is supposed to prepare pupils for the purposes of the principle of lifelong learning and lifelong education, teachers must use such approaches that will develop the intellectual and memory components in students, as well as the emotional component. This is helped by the selection of appropriate teaching methods that aim to arouse a student’s interest in the subject matter and motivate them for further education and self-education. The research sample consists of a randomly selected teachers of primary schools in Eastern Bohemia. Structured observation was selected as a research method with regard to the stated aim of the research. The primary outcome introduced in this paper is to describe the current situation with regard to the choice of teaching methods and taking into account the elements of project based teaching.
