Abstract:
Lifelong learning is a way to remain competitive in the labour market as an individual, as a business and as a national economy. Investing in lifelong learning enables the quality of human capital to be maintained and enhanced. The world of work is changing significantly today thanks to digital technologies and artificial intelligence. We know that many jobs associated with manual work and the use of basic cognitive skills will disappear due to automation, robotics and artificial intelligence. At the same time, the content and form of lifelong learning, the competences that will enable people to cope with the new conditions, are changing.

The purpose of this paper is to examine global trends in the content and form of business-focused lifelong learning programmes. It analyses in detail the market for traditional MBA programmes and focuses on Tech MBA programmes both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Within the framework of the content, it explores the scope for up-skilling (achieving a higher level of existing competencies) and re-skilling (acquiring new competencies). The form of programme delivery such as intensive bootcamps, e-learning or blended learning is also examined. In addition to secondary data, information from in-depth interviews with top managers of large companies from different sectors were used.
