Abstract:
The quality of education is determined by a number of factors, and among them the key role is played by the teachers with their professional and personal characteristics. Successful school requires quality teachers who have built and are building their professional profile through initial preparation continued with continuous professional development and upgrading. The teaching profession implies a lifelong commitment to the advancement and improvement of their knowledge, skills and abilities. The work of their professional development can be stimulated by the interests, desires and affinities of the individual up to the initiative of state policies. The professional development of the primary and subject teachers can be realized through numerous forms: workshops, seminars, conferences, projects, mobility, etc.

How much the Macedonian teachers were satisfied with their professional development was the subject of our research that we carried out on a sample of 398 teachers (primary school teachers (teachers who realize classes from first to fifth grade) and subject teachers from 28 primary and secondary schools in the Republic of Macedonia.

In line with the stated goal, we tried to answer the following questions: Are there differences in teachers’ views and opinions (Between primary and subject school teachers’) regarding their satisfaction from their own level of professional development; regarding the forms they have used for their professional development and regarding their activity in the field of their own professional development?
