Abstract:
Supplementing the master's program at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice with a new subject New Technology and Methods in Architecture Design was designed to introduce students to the use of the latest research tools in the process of optimizing design solutions for specific environmental and technical conditions. Methods of work included presentations of simulation tools with examples. Key issues related to the preparation of simulation models and sources of data necessary to carry out the simulation were indicated. The aim of the project tasks carried out by students was to analyze the results obtained as a consequence of the differentiation of input parameters to the simulations performed. The effects of obtained simulations have been analyzed, evaluated and described by the authors' comments. The conclusions from the two didactic cycles indicate the necessity to extend the scope of experimental and simulation works carried out and their connection with project tasks performed as part of the first degree engineering studies. Students, thanks to the knowledge acquired in the course of lectures and during the implementation of simulation experiments, broaden the existing knowledge about the relationships between the designed building, its users and processes implemented during its life cycles. This is a new and still different view in the group of didactics promoting the idea of designing the form in the name of the smaller significance of the function of architecture in the modern world. Keywords:
