Abstract:
Many authors come to the conclusion that in the 21st century the second language training process has to take into consideration the needs of the young ‘digital’ generation and become more technology-oriented.

The article considers different aspects of using computer games in teaching and learning foreign languages. The aim of this article is to consider the impact of computer games as a tool for second language learning and increasing students’ motivation and also to verify in practice the positive role of computer games for development of second language skills.

The article includes the survey of related works considering commercial CGs and their learning potential. According to these works, computer games can have positive influence on the development of attention and cognitive abilities which has been proven by the series of experiments. There are also a lot of data of foreign and domestic researchers confirming the improvement of language skills with the help of CGs.
