Abstract:
In recent years security issues have increasingly become a business of private entities. This phenomenon is confirmed by the long-term growth in the global security market whose current turnover is about 100 billion euros. This relatively young sector employs nearly 200,000 people only in the EU. Despite the need for a systematic and coordinated solutions of the security problems, the private security sector in the EU is characterized by large fragmentation caused by different approaches and actual legislation at national level. This article is oriented to the differences in the operation of private security services in Central European countries of the former Eastern bloc in comparison to the system in other countries. Emphasis will be placed mainly on the process of education of security managers and guards. The quality of education of this group may significantly affect the security situation at the national or international level.
