The need to establish a European Qualifications Framework resulted from the requirement for a common reference framework for professional qualifications in the European countries. The research examines the context in which could work the validation of non-formal and informal learning for teachers of Primary Education in Greece, the possible difficulties and obstacles. The survey showed that teachers of Primary School Education were largely interested in reinforcing their professional development through non-formal learning processes. They believe that learning occurs during work experience, as informal learning, while they seem to acquire and enhance most of the basic skills that the European Union considers vital for Lifelong Learning. Finally, the research concluded that the majority of teachers in primary education do not know or hardly know the role and functioning of the European and Hellenic Qualifications Framework.
