Abstract:
In general, design branches specifically in education of architecture and interior design; design studio courses are fundamental of education. Design studio courses, having past more than 100 years, have been naturally applied in different education associations in different ways. However, it can almost be said that there is a conventional studio education since these differences are insignificant among them.
Conventional studio education are formed from, studio studies, studio critics and juries to evaluate the student’s projects in a certain period as well as homeworks. Lecturers who teach the studio courses are generally professional educators who work in universities as a staff.
In this study, an approach which is tested on design studio course in interior design department at Anadolu University, is studied. The interior design studio III course in interior design department at Anadolu University has been taught by independent professional designers and a lecturer who is staff, together. At the end of the semester which took approximately 3 months an interview has been realized face to face with the students and a survey has been applied. By this way, it is tried to clarify different approach between the educators who work in theoretically and the professionals who work practical. Besides, the specifications have to be possessed by the lecturer who will teach the design studio course, have been evaluated by the students.
