Abstract:
From the perspective of historical development, experiential learning is nothing new. However, the name is different. This way of learning enables teachers to pass knowledge and skills easily, using games. This is the most suitable option in kindergartens, however, this way of education is really convenient for teaching adults too. The article deals with the combination of using experiential learning and activities (workshops) planning for children in and out of the kindergarten. All the time, the activities were focused on the topic of milling. The program was composed of the following activities: planting young plants, grain art, constructing a mill from mini-bricks, corn decorations, bakery products, making puppets for a mill, grinding grain. The program also included activities outside the kindergarten at the farm called Bernard, such as a tour of farm animals, baking flatbreads, decorating fabric bags or carpentry activities. The activities were planned for indoor and outdoor environment too. All the activities were very beneficial for children, as they were not fulfilled in the classroom only, but also in the environment suitable for the given activity. The article includes detailed reflections and reactions of children on the individual activities. Recommendations on activities outside the kindergarten are provided too.
