Abstract:
Gamification is a playful learning strategy where video games become a modern learning tool, educators have given it a didactic objective by offering an interactive and challenging environment that provides feedback and rewards, helping students maintain attention and interest for longer. Games are able to actively involve students in the learning process. Also, video games encourage the development of a variety of cognitive skills, such as attention, concentration, memory, spatial perception and problem solving. Through these experiences, players learn to communicate and collaborate to reach a goal as a team, fight depression, create friendships and have fun in a safe and healthy environment. The objective of this work is to integrate the didactic strategy of gamification in an introductory course of artificial intelligence for students of Engineering of theUniversidad Autónoma Metropolitana. The methodology contemplates the design of the story of the game, it must be fun so that it catches the students, search mechanics are designed and questions of the subject are integrated so that the students understand the basic concepts of AI. Collaborators are trained in the tool they will use for the creation of the video game. Finally, the classroom is implemented with the pedagogical strategy of gamification. The creative design of the video game includes the creation of the characters, the development of a storyboard with the story and initial sketches of the scenery. A search is made for additional resources (tilesets, weapons, facesets, etc.) for application within the video game. Activities related to the corresponding UEA are integrated within the video game. This paper presents the experiences around the pedagogical strategy of gamification around Artificial Intelligence. The video game called "La casa infinita" is developed. It's a 3D educational video game about artificial intelligence. When testing the video game with interested people, it was observed that it is an effective tool to promote interactive learning in the area of artificial intelligence. Thanks to its style, the developed video game managed to capture the attention of players by providing them with a playful experience while acquiring knowledge.
