Abstract:
For the time being, lifelong learning is still a challenge for universities. Debate and reflection on prospects and modalities that could help to improve the performance of professionals in education is promoted. The main purpose of this paper is to provide some reflections on the blended learning experience conducted at UAB in collaboration with OEI, seeking connections and variations with similar experiences organized by the Research Group EDO (http://edo. uab.es). The reference experience was carried out within 2010 - 2011 school year and was targeted at heads of national and Latin American countries.
The training proposal was targeted to all Ibero-American countries. Participants were managers, directors, coordinators and professionals responsible for programs and projects of literacy and education for young people and adults.
The objectives of the proposal were the following, among others:
• To identify and critically evaluate alternatives for organizational improvement and performance of school managers as organizational change agents.
• To strengthen school managers’ professional competencies to leader groups within participative organizations.
• To design and implement innovation strategies for the institutional direction and management with support from the University.
Description of the experience:
The text describes the process, results and some learning experiences of innovative training based on b-learning as an educational model. It was aimed at people interested in the management of schools for young people and adults. A follow-up to a group of students was made during a term. There was close one-to-one and group contact with the teacher through the continuous use of platform Moodle. Online training has permitted us to know how the knowledge construction and development of professional competencies are developed.
The context reality analysis where this experience took place enabled us to identify two major problems: on the one hand the problem of total, functional or other kind of illiteracy along with the education of young people and adults as a need to foster the maximum socio-cultural and economic development in Ibero-America; and on the other hand, the need to pay attention to training focused on managers of schools for young people and adults.
