Abstract:
The covid pandemic has impacted the lives of practically the entire international population, a large and diverse community of language teachers not being an exception. Therefore, the authors sought to discover and compare the ways how language teachers have dealt with the impact of the pandemic at university language centres in various countries.

A questionnaire was constructed to gather and analyse the data on different approaches to managing online language teaching and testing before, during and after the covid pandemic. To collect the data from the different countries and keep the results clear and understandable, the authors have decided to address the heads of language centres from the countries where they have contacts mainly acquired via their Erasmus+ mobilities. The results of the questionnaires were then analysed and compared. In some cases, online semi-structured interviews were conducted to supplement and expand the information from the questionnaires to provide a richer insight into the issue.

A summary of various approaches towards online language teaching and testing, identification of their advantages and drawbacks, as well as potential developments in online language education are offered.
