Abstract:
Mastering writing as a skill is time-consuming. Outcomes Advanced course book normally provides students with instructions on how to tie ideas together in a logical, well-organized, reader-friendly and structurally correct way. Following this perspective, teaching writing in this realia does not necessarily mean the development of students’ ability to write, and produce complex genres such as review in a journaling style and describing process (IELTS format).

Students are prejudiced towards writing, especially in technical universities, where speaking is given much priority. Moreover students’ proficiency level plays a crucial role. According to the results of our study, lower levels, A1 and A2, believe that writing should be limited, but C1 and C2 respondents claim that writing is an important component, but an approach of teaching it has to be in an interdisciplinary context, exams oriented, with the possibility of developing critical thinking.

This study focuses on step-by-step organizing an unconventional writing class for C2 students, based on the Reading Circle technique. Students read authentic magazine articles, watch short videos on YouTube, in order to collect some pieces of vocabulary. They analyze samples to determine some specific features, outline and compose their pieces collaboratively. Finally, we equip them with some effective strategies for giving feedback.
