Abstract:
The use of ICT in Nigeria education is gainig prominence and has cut across all fields including Distance Learning Programmes. One of the strategies of information disemination to students and registration of courses is use of ICT.Since the programme began six years ago, an investigation into the efficiency worths considering. 200 students of the university randomly drawn from two study centres in south-west Nigeria to respond to efficiency of ICT in thier registration of courses, downloading of course materials and obtaining information for their programme. 80 percent of the respondents said the use of internet is frustrating due to frequent shortage of eletricity, inadequate internet facilities in many towns where students reside, slow internet services. Materials are not easily downloadable where course materials are are not available in hard copy form. In addition, respondents said the institution ICT facilities at study centers do not provide such services while many students do not have ICT skills to aid their registration and other activities related to use of ICT. It is sugested that the university needs to train their students in the use of ICT and internet as well as provide such facilities in respective centers to easy use of ICT in the programme.
