Abstract:
Translation from one language to another is impossible without grammatical transformations. The given article is dedicated to grammatical transformations during the translation of English folk tales. Grammatical transformations are, first of all, a restructuring of a sentence (a change in its structure) and all kinds of replacements - both syntactic and morphological. Grammatical transformations are caused by various reasons - both of a purely grammatical and lexical nature, although grammatical factors play the leading role: differences in languages' structure. Thus, the urgency of the problem under consideration is undoubted since reading fairy tales in English is much more effective than the usual memorization of complicated words. This research aims to study the features of the translation of English folk tales, get acquainted with the peculiarities of English folk tales, and analyze ways of translation transformations. The research is done based on grammatical transformations during the translation of Robert Southey's «Goldilocks and the Three Bears.»
