Abstract:
With the constant breakthrough in science and technology particularly the communication technology, it is imperative to impart education in pace with the modern global standards. One of the ways of improving quality education is by encouraging the use of technology i.e. modern learning aids so as to accelerate its pace of development to meet the needs and aspirations of the society at large. It is time to unshackle the closed door phenomena of imparting education within the four walls and widen its horizon and make virtual classroom a reality.

Education 1.0 which is more of the chalk and talk method is slowly transforming to education 2.0 which is mostly technology enabled. Various technologies can be used in imparting higher education especially the audiovisual tools such as use of LCDs, internet, email, audio/videoconferencing, television lessons, CDS, etc., in imparting knowledge by the faculty in commerce education.
The present study is an attempt to explore the use and the perception of the students of using technology for learning at the undergraduate commerce programme. Although the study is commerce based it can have an implication to the student community at large.
Transition of education from 1.0 to 2.0 involves a lot of learning like the new teaching method facilitated by technology such changes is often seen with skepticism. Authors and educators still question whether its use positively impacts the learning process. Research is beginning to focus more on the evaluation of the use of technology, but results remain inconclusive.

Hence this study is conducted to find out the students perception in traditional as well as modern course program in single large and small class. Therefore a study to explore the effectiveness of using technology into the developed module the methods used and the address whether technology can indeed improve student learning. Although the module was on a commerce based topic it can have a wider implication to the teaching community.

This study explores four research areas:
1. What kinds of learning aids are the students aware of?
2. How do students perceive the effectiveness of learning aids as being more conducive to their learning?
3. Are there differences in the use of learning aids in various programme in commerce education?
4. What is the impact of using Learning aids ( with special reference to LCD projector) on the performance of students?
