Abstract:
The professional development of teachers involves a comprehensive approach aimed at enhancing their emotional well-being, resilience, and effectiveness. Thus, understanding teacher emotions and recognizing how these emotions are connected to personal identity and impact professional performance is a must. This exploration includes examining core beliefs, specifically irrational ones, that may contribute to emotional burnout among educators. Emphasizing the importance of positive social relationships with students, this approach draws on positive psychology to highlight how these connections can serve as a source of support during challenging times. The key personal competencies, including emotional intelligence, self-regulation, and coping strategies, are essential to managing and responding to emotions effectively. Promoting a positive work-life balance in the midst of environmental stressors and poor working conditions is also a way to impact teachers’ emotional health. This presentation aims at offering tools for teachers to maintain mental well-being and resilience by integrating professional development programs to support teachers in navigating the emotional demands of their profession and enhancing their overall effectiveness and satisfaction.
