Abstract:
The rapid development of technology in today's modern societies has a great impact on all aspects of our daily life, and education is no exception. Although some researchers claim that the use of technology in education still needs to be improved, they cannot deny the fact that at universities technology and education are becoming intertwined. The main sources that students currently use when searching for information for their courses are the search engines and the university e-libraries. For that, the researchers decided to study student usage of the e-library in an urban Lebanese private university. The purpose of this study was to investigate to what extent university students used the e-library and in which courses. In addition, the students’ attitudes toward using the e-library were examined, that is, the way students viewed its necessity, benefit, and usage. The researchers distributed questionnaires to 105 university students of different majors. Data were then tabulated to see if students of different majors used the e-library differently and if their attitudes towards using it were different. Keywords:
E-library, technology, education.
