Abstract:
Growing ethnical, cultural and religious diversity challenges most educational institutions to improve the strategies for evaluating and embracing difference as schools, colleges, universities are unique places where young people can be taught and helped to resolve disagreements in a peaceful manner. However problems scrutinized within a number of educational establishments as well as Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University, the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, made it possible to reveal considerable discrepancy between the institution current background established for the previous years and the new realities and social needs to foster tolerance awareness. Besides, teachers being the major individuals in the implementing multicultural experience lack the particular policies, regulations and instructions to foster tolerance awareness. These discrepancies make to search for the sufficient patterns and tools multicultural educational institutions could use in the everyday practices to provide security, high levels of engagement, academic success and emotional safety.

The purpose of the study is to evaluate and verify the actions which provide the efficient ways of fostering tolerance awareness in multicultural educational institutions. To accomplish the goals the authors employs the methodology of case study analysis. The research considers approaches the educational institutions can take to encourage tolerance awareness and promoting diversity and tolerance. The standards of tolerant behavior are developed not only during the certain events encouraging students to understand, empathize and express one’s feelings without rudeness and abuse. These standards are based in the student’s group everyday activity which the educator should focus on. Fostering tolerance awareness practices should include the students’ common notions, skills and experience of the beneficial relationships. The findings revealed the need for further investigations on the subject field.
