Abstract:
To keep abreast in the ever-changing world, the Contemporary Islamic Studies Faculty needs to take the initiative to attain excellence in academic and research work. As such, internet offers a wide variety of resources which are relevant and useful in teaching and learning at higher learning institutions. It is also an important source of information for those undertaking research work. To be more effective in their teaching and learning, the lecturers at FKI UDM often access the internet to search for resources that they need throughout the course of their work. This study is based on a group of forty-one lecturers from the Contemporary Islamic Studies Faculty at UDM. All the respondents are found to have used internet to search for resources for their teaching. However, the percentage of teaching resources they found relevant from the internet is low. The printed materials and resources are still regarded as the main source of reference for teaching at higher learning institutions. The teaching resources from the internet are often limited to information which is current and related to the subjects taught, additional notes or relevant newspaper articles. Majority of the lecturers at the Islamic Faculty often take advantage of the internet facility made available by the university. They access internet to search for materials and resources in their teaching.
