Abstract:
Nowadays, sharing and utilizing the organizational knowledge have become a strategic resource for gaining and maintaining a competitive advantage over competitors. For achieving such an advantage, organizations require solutions and approaches that make them capable of assessing the knowledge sharing performance and assisting them in gaining a better market position. The initial purpose of this paper is to briefly review the broad knowledge sharing literature and identify the most appropriate performance measuring indices. In this regard, a number of experts have been asked to verify the knowledge sharing indices gathered from the accepted literature in order to identify the indices which are best applicable for the knowledge oriented institutes. In the next step, one of the iranian universities has been selected as one of the most progressive universities in higher education for the empirical assessment of the metrics. The results have shown some ups and downs regarding the knowledge sharing performance of this university. Finally, according to the results, a set of recommendations has been provided and some propositions for the future surveys have been addressed.
