Abstract:
Did you know that it is possible to integrate in Swedish in Finland?
In Finland, Swedish is a minority language spoken by about 5 % of the population compared to Finnish, which is spoken by 87 % of the population of 5 million people. Geographically the Swedish speaking minority is settled along the coast line. The Language Boost Project is a government funded project aiming to facilitate the integration and employability of international experts in Finland. In the Swedish part of the project we aim to promote integration in Swedish by informing about the Finland-Swedish society and culture, in addition to supporting language learning. Information will be provided on our digital platform, but also through a MOOC, especially designed for international experts, presenting working opportunities and in parts of Finland where Swedish is spoken. In addition we will introduce the Swedish speaking culture and society. Since the MOOC will be set in 360 degree learning environments, participants will feel immersed in interesting places in Swedish Finland. It will also include gaming elements as well as videos with interviews about employer and employee experiences.
