Abstract:
Teachers are communicators, knowledge transmitters and educators too. But when they are in a class, independently of the age that the pupils have, very often the methodology that they use is not adapted to the modern and changing society in which we live. In the educational curriculum, subjects and contents are revised each year, but, what about the didactics and the pedagogic tools? Are they attractive for the new students that they live with audiovisual media and technological advances? In the past, we used a pen, nowadays a Keyboard. In the past, teachers did magisterial courses but nowadays they use a PowerPoint. Is now the moment to introduce the suitable methods adapted to the modern era?
For the first time, along the school year 2006-2007, a working group was created: The University of Girona in collaboration with the Museum of the Cinema. This group of people was formed by pedagogues, educators, teachers, educators from the audiovisual sector and Doctors on didactics subjects. The proposed goal was to introduce the audiovisual mediums in the Formal education based on a scholar curriculum. From the work and observation of different films, advertisements, serials TV and animation short films, could be able to work in the classroom different aspects related with the compulsory knowledge (adapted at the age and course and also the values and the attitudes that the school has to transmit).
The working group was developing, during the year, different materials. The process was hard and long due to the long discussions after giving different points of view to obtain several conclusions. Every two or three weeks, the working group had a meeting in order to elaborate materials and give their opinions. Each member of the group recommended a topic to work and they provide a film or a material to view.
The main aim of these working groups was to produce didactic materials from the research of different scenes, characters, objects, images… The material was adapted to teachers for the use in the class, to distribute support material for the pupils, and documents of work related with the imparted subjects in the school. All the material were designed and based on the needs of the class, and were created in sessions which last 50 minutes. Moreover, this activity shows pupils how to read images, how to know reading among stills and how to learn about the opportunities of transmission that audiovisual media can offer. This kind of activity can b used to arise interest and curiosity of pupils at the same time, compulsory concepts of the curricula are learned.
Apart from these materials two more activities were organized. One interview with the director and the productor of the film "SALVADOR" and another one with the creator and director of an animation short film "ATXIM".
The experience was fantastic, in the case of "SALVADOR". Different projections were organized in the city cinemas when only opened to the students, in order to know and discuss a real story that shocked during the Franco’s dictatorship and nowadays lives and affects the Catalan society too.

Results and appraisals of the high schools and schools that worked with our materials have been very positive and motivated. It is for this reason that, each year, different working groups create and provide materials in the same line, adapted to the new scholar needs.
