Continuing education is a constant learning process for the veterinarians, because only then can update their knowledge and improve their practice, which is the goal of Medicine Veterinary Animal Sciences Faculty through the Pathology Department which organise courses and workshops implemented to contribute to their training in health sciences.
Since 2005 there is a paradigm shift in the pattern of courses normally taught in the histopathological diagnosis in veterinary medicine, open source tools were implemented mostly that allowed the transfer of knowledge for training in the identification of gross lesions in cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
This summary presents the experience of creation and adaptation of educational material for two workshops and an online course in which the veterinarian used tools for reflection and debate in search of histopathological diagnoses issue, in response to exercise their profession.
The content management took place in the educational platform Moodle (Martin Dougiamas version 1.9.2) from which distributed educational materials, lessons and evaluations and to provoke reflection on the identification of lesions were clinical cases published in discussion forums.
For the proof of the structure of systems, we made videos were made detailing the morphology of each organ, the images are quite significant for the student to recognize more efficient and easy to diagnose possible cases.
In the diagnosis, the communication with experts was supported by the online conference system DimDim, this program provided feedback to students thus strengthened the interaction among participants.
Internet use enabled the upgrade of veterinarians who for reasons of geographical location without access to classroom courses; the faculty has meant an enormous challenge to academics to professionals who practice their profession effective and timely manner.
Finally, this kind of courses them reinforcing the learning-reflection process, on the important role of the veterinary to the health and animal welfare.
