Abstract:
Innovation can be defined as the constant changes that occur in different areas of society, it is a continuous action of transitions over time, therefore this word is used with different meanings, according to the context in which it is applied, whether in the business world, in any type of organization and of course also in the educational sector.

According to the above and whereas in the current times it is essential to innovate in any development environment, the University can not be left behind, in such a way that this innovation is given, in ideas, in the processes, the strategies and ways of transmitting knowledge, taking into account information and communication, technology and structures, achieving with this, changes in current educational practices, to turn them into innovative educational practices.

"Innovation in Higher Education is one of the crucial issues that ANUIES has promoted in the need to generate integral processes of training in the different areas of knowledge and professional fields. That is why it organizes inter and intra-regional work groups, that promote and carry out projects linked to the following thematic axes: Educational models, educational innovation and curriculum Environments and modalities” (ANUIES, 2018).

The University of Veracruz has been committed to educational innovation for 19 years, when in the year of 1999 it implemented the Integral and Flexible Educational Model (MEIF).

This educational model is integral because it promotes intellectual preparation, professional, social and human, through the training areas of the curriculum, and it is flexible in times, spaces and contents since it allows the student within the institutional regulations, to adapt their school trajectory to their needs and interests.

The MEIF at the University of Veracruz also includes the Transverse program, which is implemented in the year of 2013 and through which it is incorporated into the different educational programs under a systemic and complex vision, the topics of sustainability, health promotion, interculturality, gender, internationalization, art, creativity, human rights and justice.
