Abstract:
The rapid spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) in Spain caused the government to confine the population in their homes for a period of 44 days. The measure came into effect at 00:00 hours on Sunday, March 13, and was relaxed as of April 28, when the plan to deconfine the citizenry in four phases was announced.

During the lockdown, all educational centers were closed and face-to-face teaching became online teaching, with students receiving their training from home.
This research was carried out in the statistics subject in the Aerospace Engineering Degree where the development and planning of a teaching innovation project were adapted to the circumstances experienced. 118 second-year grade students participated in the study.

During the lockdown, the students worked individually from their homes within a team-developed project to learn the main statistic concepts by using paper-made glider planes. Classes were held online and the concepts explained in the subject: one-dimensional, two-dimensional descriptive statistics, discrete and continuous distributions, ANOVA, Regression and Design of experiments were applied.

The students evaluated later the degree of satisfaction with the adaptation of the subject and the project to the SARS-CoV-19 circumstances experienced. At the same time, it was analyzed how the work contributed to the development of different competencies such as Creativity, Innovation and Critical Thinking.

In this article we analyze the degree of involvement of the students, the contribution of the project to the improvement of the acquisition of the concepts of the subject, the degree of fun, the degree of satisfaction with the grade of the subject assigned to the work, and the degree of motivation were also investigated. of the students.

Results show that 88.9% of the students considered that the teachers adapted the subject and the development of the project well to the period of confinement. 92.5% of the students improved their creativity and critical thinking and 88.8% their capacity for innovation.
