Abstract:
The furniture manufacturing industry is facing challenges which are mainly related to creating suitable models to facilitate the way of life for people and at the same time increasing the comfort of staying in them. In this context, designers are obliged to learn application software which facilitates the work in designing different forms of furniture.
The study presents data collected from graduates of the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Wood Technology, Department of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj. The questionnaire was distributed to 35 graduates who are employed in various companies in the design and production of furniture. Out of 35 questionnaires distributed, 32 questionnaires were collected. The respondents show that the knowledge gained about the software taught at the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj, significantly meet their requirements to deal with practical problems that they encounter while working in the company.
The study highlights some problems which can be summarized in three groups:
1. Increasing the number of hours for software by adding other software that would facilitate the work in designing 3D (three dimensional) objects.
2. According to the data it turns out that ArchiCAD and 3DS Max software are the most required software in terms for designing 3D objects (three dimensional).
3. The data show that there is also a need to improve curricula related to design software. It is required that the programs be profiled according to the appropriate fields, ie, to be more oriented in solving the practical problems that the graduates will face while working in companies. Keywords:
