Abstract:
The aim of the paper is to examine the content and some aspects of language learning for training specialists in the field of ecology, nature management and international aspects of environmental policy at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) which is very important in the formation of their professional competencies and skills. The program of the English course designed for 4 years matches the main curriculum and the justification for the selection of subjects and linguistic material is given herein. To achieve the best practical results we use the methods of linguodidactics which make a professionally oriented approach. Particular attention is paid to such aspects as the relevance of linguistic material, the integration of environmental subjects into the range of economic subjects, extra educational work (conferences and competitions). A coursebook on the ecology language for university students is developed. The materials of the manual can be used both independently and within the framework of a broader program that includes functionally and thematically diversified components relevant for preparing bachelors and specialists in environmental issues to work with English. The author concludes that a high profile education of future specialists requires a well balanced system of integrated linguistic, didactic and environemtal matters adapted to the present day needs of the profession proper, production and business processes, and society at large.
