Abstract:
Human mind seems to be rather well prepared by nature in order to be educated for the use of new technologies. But since human mind does not come along without a human body and the human body does not seem to be so well prepared by nature to adapt without health risks to new technologies, there is a need for both ergonomics and compensatory health education to deal with obvious and hidden health risks in consequence of the use of new technological devices.
The presentation will deal with some of the hidden health risks of our time and compensatory education to prevent possible damage to the human body and mind, focussing mostly on the consequences of quite usual mindless habits and their negative effects and on the helpful effects of unusual counteracting movements mattering for mood and mind.
Though the contents of this health education are new, there are no new physiological or psychological principles involved - just such well known facts like the interplay of agonist and antagonist muscles, the dynamical interaction of specific moods and their bodily expressions, or the strengthening of habits by repetition at the cost of alternatives.
The connections of this approach of health education to more general adult psycho-education in the service of the promotion of stress resilience will be explained and their common historical roots in antiquity mentioned.
