Abstract:

We will begin by looking at the few successes and numerous failures of CBT (computer-based training) in ELT (English language training) before moving on to look at present trends in the field with a few predictions for the future. Next, we will present English Net: the philosophy and methodology behind the site as well as a brief view of what it has to offer. As we have over five years’ experience of using the site in a major Spanish bank, we will discuss why we feel this is the best way of using the technology. Finally we will turn our eyes to the coming years and how companies can save costs and optimise investment in language training for employees.
