Abstract:
The age of COVID-19 has made online learning a necessity. Our geometry courses for future mathematics teachers at the Faculty of Education of the University in Ostrava have also been moved to the online space. To teach geometry with the GeoGebra software, we used the online platforms LMS MOODLE and MS TEAMS. Instead of the classic methods of teaching geometry in the classroom at the blackboard, supported with information and communication technologies, we discovered a new potential of the GeoGebra software. We used a qualitative methodology to observe the development of the algorithmic thinking and spatial imagination and digital literacy of our students. We also used a pilot survey to assess their motivation, increase of creativity and independent orientation of our students in this issue. The research confirmed the positive impact of using the innovative online method by teaching geometry with the GeoGebra software. We want to present the results of qualitative research and suggest further use in the preparation of future mathematics teachers, by using GeoGebra software in online learning.
