Abstract:
The implementation of the state of alarm during the second semester of the 2019-2020 academic year has been a challenge for most of the professors. Using platforms such as Zoom or Meet made possible for the professors to replace the in-class teaching by online classes allowing this way the students to attend them. It is well known that during a face-to-face class, where the professor instructs his class, students often lose their capacity to pay attention. This problem increases when students have to attend the class from home, sitting in front of their computer.
Therefore, the imposition of the online classes was a challenge for both the professors and the students. The subject in which the changes presented in this work were applied was the subject Complements for Disciplinary Training in Natural Sciences, for the Master Degree in Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Language Teaching The face-to-face classes related to this subject were already designed for the students to practice the standards proposed by UNESCO such as learning based on the use of ICTs. Beside this, changes were made so that the classes, that lasted for two hours, to be more dynamic.
These changes involved alternating theoretical and practical activities during the same session. Moreover, the classes were recorded so that the students could access them as many times as they wanted. This allowed to each student to learn at his own rhythm. In this way, the students acquired the levels of knowledge proposed by UNESCO, learned to work the activities through ICTs, to set up their groups on digital platforms and to design their own ICTs. However, this type of learning was influenced by different factors, both positives and negatives such as the fact that the use of digital platforms turned out to be easy for the students since they are already accustomed to their use or the quality of the network that was not the same in all cases and some students had connection problems.
The final evaluation of the teaching-learning process performed by the students showed that the students were satisfied with these type of methods. However, the final evaluation also reflected the fact that the students have missed the in-class teaching and the contact with classmates and teachers. Keywords:
