Abstract:
Modern society is experiencing a new stage in its development under e-digital information revolution - information and communication technologies and digital information have a decisive impact on a number of factors in public life in general and on education and science in particular.
During the emergency situation in Bulgaria, libraries and universities were faced with a serious challenge. The abrupt interruption of their work with students and patrons, as well as the range of obligatory anti-epidemic measures led to the situation of finding a balanced version for the normal working and learning process while transforming it into a digital one.
In the report the dynamics of the development of e-Learning technology in the context of learning through library is explored and analyzed. The main directions for its development and validation are outlined, in the context of learning through the library during pandemic emergency conditions. Particular attention is paid to the problems related to one of the perspective methods of modern information technologies in the educational process - virtual reality as a method, means and technology of training.

For the purposes of the research, materials were studied and gathered in two major directions:
1) how the Bulgarian libraries / especially the university ones / react in the conditions of a pandemic. Here the object of the study are the different types of library services, transforming the way they are offered and subsequent steps after the end of the period of social isolation;
2) the digital transformation of the curricula, methods, means and resources for training students in Bulgarian universities. In order to narrow the scope of research, the study covers only students in library specialties – BA and MA programs.
As a result of the conducted research, the issues and challenges have been outlined regarding the following:
1) The digital migration of services – the transfer of library services from the physical ones to digital;
2) The creation of new digital resources;
3) The transfer of seminar sessions and specialized conferences into hybrid events online.

As a major conclusion, we could point out that in response to the pandemic, the use of already existing digital resources, online events, campaigns and meetings in social media in Bulgarian libraries and universities have seen an upsurge, together with the design of innovative online projects.
Based on the results of the study the authors come to the conclusion that the use of a unified system for training students and upgrading the university faculty through the use of a common virtual information and educational environment will contribute to personalizing the organization of the educational process.
The numerous initiatives conducted and taking place online have consolidated the innovative role of the library and the university as places of communication between lecturers, students and artists. They continue to interact meaningfully with each other in a time of social distancing, albeit through the contemporary information and communication technologies.
