Abstract:
In recent years, the University of Library Studies and Information Technology is actively working on several projects aimed at conservation, preservation and promotion of documentary resources with cultural and historical significance for the memory of the Bulgarian nation. One of the projects involved is "Innovative model for study and socialization of Strandja literary and documentary heritage" , whose main purpose is through systematic and purposeful survey, identification and study of important literary monuments in the region of Malko Tarnovo municipality to create and test an innovative model for research of the Bulgarian literary and documentary heritage, which will create conditions for documentation, preservation, storage, access and popularization of the rich literary, cultural and historical heritage of the Strandzha region.
The inclusion in the project team of students majoring Library Studies create opportunities for practical training related to the restoration, conservation and digitization of literary and documentary sources and on the other hand, can be used for systematization of student’s theoretical knowledge as well as to promote the application of information and communication technologies in the process of cultural and historical heritage socialization.
The goal of this report is to present some of the activities implemented under the project " Innovative model for study and socialization of Strandja literary and documentary heritage " associated with creating opportunities for practical training in the field of restoration, conservation and digitization of written heritage documents. Students and postgraduates of UNIBIT participate actively in the development and application of new eco-friendly technologies without chemical substances, guided by the thought that the effort to preserve any tiny bit of cultural heritage will benefit future generations and keep Bulgarian identity alive.
Among the tasks set by the young scientists and doctoral students working on the project is the formation of a modern space – a medium of innovation and creativity, practical work and professional dialogue where students receive guidance and full-scale attention during the process of preservation , conservation and promotion of our literary and documentary heritage.
In conclusion, it is necessary to note that the need for wide-profile library specialists with practical knowledge is more and more apparent and it is essential to provide opportunities for gaining practical experience in a real working environment during their training. Involving them as participants in various projects or as students in various practical courses and master classes is another step towards creating well-trained professionals meeting the requirements of modern society. Keywords:
