Abstract:

In this paper, architectural education subjects are interpreted within the framework of definitions of ethical issues, implementation methods are researched, the issues taught in different periods of architectural undergraduate curriculum are discussed on ethical definitions while relating and integrating both fields, targeting a sustainable city.
The course has been structured as ‘Professional Practice and Ethics’ in Architecture Department in 2011-2012 spring semester and the study is conducted within this course. An analytical course program is presented to the students in respect to the course content. Therefore; [1] Philosophical ethical values, [2] Professional ethical values, [3] Public improvements at country scale, [4] Development plans, [5] Urban development Plans and its practices, [6] Research in defined urban plots, [7] Reporting methods,
are addressed within the course schedule. Method of the study is discussing and combining all the basic information with the ethical values that students receive during their education, presentation of the overall results and making practical analysis. In order to achieve this goal, two different exercises have been applied to students, addressing the integration of practice and ethics to education. The results of the exercises will be evaluated at the end of the semester, so as to compare students’ awarenesses in mentioned issues.
This new study is structured in order to evaluate all the results with the targeted training, to establish the thought infrastructure and project evaluation with a different point of view. Therefore, it is aimed to integrate new architect candidates to practice, re-structure the mentality and achieve spatial sustainability in city scape.
