Abstract:
The article presents the key fields of multilingual program of multicultural education for formation of linguistic and cultural persona in multilingual environment. The necessity in multilingual teaching is defined by global world tendency to integration of social, political and economical spheres of life.
In view of above defined tendencies multilingual education can provide greater access to the information in various fields, new knowledge in accordance with the person’s needs, opportunities for continuing education that can create additional conditions to improve work skills and competitiveness at the global market. Therefore, multilingual education is considered to be one of the key fields for improving international education environment.
The research presents the experience of Kazan Federal University. The educational program of multilingual education has been implemented in the chair ‘Theory and Practice of Translation’, which is one of the departments of High School of Foreign Languages and Translation of Kazan Federal University. The students of our university learn English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, Korean, Japan, Turkish, Hindi, Vietnamese, Persian, Swahili and Indonesian in the frames of such training profiles as “Translation Studies” and “Theory and Methodology of Foreign Languages Teaching.”
The third year students have the opportunity to start learning the third foreign language. The goal of “Translation Studies” training profile is to educate translators and interpreters who master modern translation techniques, who are able to conduct the research in the field of theory, history and methodology of translation and who can work in the leading governmental and non-governmental international organizations and companies.
Implementation of the training profile “Theory and Methodology of Foreign Languages Teaching” involves such fields as teaching three foreign languages, methods of teaching, interaction of cultures, intercultural communication and internship in educational organizations in order the graduates could work in governmental, non-governmental and private educational organizations.
The research results show that multilingualism can ensure professional and personal achievements in multilingual environment that promotes the formation of a new type of a person who masters the skills that he or she needs to fulfill the potential in multilingual society.
