Abstract:
This paper presents the execution of one of the phases of the Ilargi Project, where a didactic unit is defined, and carried on, to raise students' awareness in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency in schools, with the aim of increasing their scientific capital. The didactic unit is addressed to a vocational training school where initially
(1) an informative lecture is given for awareness and contextualization purposes. Then,
(2) on-site tests are carried out to demonstrate advanced techniques for energy audits (such as thermographic tests, blow-door tests, etc.) and, finally,
(3) a demonstration is made of advanced techniques for energy audits (such as thermographic tests, blow-door tests, etc.) and the students are given an opportunity to learn about energy efficiency and sustainability. Finally,
(4) students visit the facilities of professional staff in the field, specifically the Building Quality Control Laboratory of the Basque Government, where, in the form of a conference, they exchange the results of their studies with the experience of professionals. In these practices, the students are placed in the centre and it is they who carry out the tests in order to empower themselves and become familiar with the methodology and the results. Thus, once a diagnosis of the centre’s energy performance has been obtained, the objective is to propose STEM mini-challenges to improve the building energy efficiency.
