Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence (or AI) applications have been around for years but the recent explosion in personal AI applications has brought the AI industry into focus and generated the need for general understanding and appropriate use of AI techniques as well as a thirst for further applications in many industries. As such, there is an urgent need for an AI-trained workforce at all levels. Over the years, the George Washington University Online Engineering Programs Office has excelled in providing relevant educational programs for working professionals in an easily available and convenient online format. In response to the urgent need for an AI-trained workforce, The George Washington University Online Engineering Programs Office has responded with the development of two new degrees:
1. The Doctor of Engineering in AI and Machine Learning launched in Fall 2023. This Program provides an in-depth coverage of AI and Machine Learning methodologies and their implications and allows students to perform directed research to apply these methodologies in different fields.
2. The Masters of Engineering in AI and Machine Learning launched in Spring 2024. This Program introduces students to an overview of the basic methodologies and applications of AI and Machine Learning

In this poster, we overview the collaborative process for degree development, the program objectives, the final curriculum for each degree, and the approach to online delivery. We conclude with a report on student feedback from our first classes.
