Abstract:
Asmoz Foundation, under the Basque Government Department of Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism, has carried out the project "Research and Experimental Application of Tools for the Development of Learning Objects in Standard Format and their Incorporation into any LMS environment” with the aim of helping the educational community to define and develop reusable and reconfigurable learning objects according to the context in which they are to be used. In particular, the project’s general objective has been to research and encourage the use of tools that help to produce and disseminate learning objects (LO’s) in standard SCORM format and to collaborate in their development, so that the materials generated in this way can be imported to any learning environment (LMS).
Results:
In general, the results obtained through this project are as follows:
- To promote the use of LO’s as a means of enhancing teaching skills: in a technical way, focusing on learning skills and critique: focused on reflection on the action.
- Helping the teaching staff to acquire new abilities, behaviours and practices associated with the change caused by the integration of ICT’s in education, as well as acquiring new beliefs and conceptions linked to this.
- Assisting the teaching staff in the task of offering alternative learning paths, by adapting the teaching programmes to the students’ specific needs.
- Providing the teaching staff with the interoperability to use materials developed in other contexts and learning systems, and in turn, to generate materials that can also be used in other contexts and learning systems.
- Helping the teaching staff prepare contents that can be re-designed and adapted to the new technologies, thus taking advantage of the LO’s characteristic of durability.
- Reducing the time invested by the teaching staff in developing teaching material due to the reusable nature of the LO’s.Keywords:
