Abstract:
A teaching proposal for probability and statistics courses, based on the project-oriented learning technique, is presented. This technique is focused on developing citizenship and leadership competences. This work has been developed through the collection of data obtained from hundreds of students and several companies. In general, students are focused with the development of proposals and designs of creative solutions to existing problems or issues in these companies. The activities, in which students get involved, are focused on boosting their teamwork competences, problem solution and leadership skills. The results show that the students perceive an improvement of their sensibility to citizenship issues, coordinate their efforts more efficiently, they are more interested on the course subjects, and their leadership and entrepreneurship skills are developed. The didactic strategy, some data obtained from the involved companies and results on the learning and competencies developed by the students on the fall semester of 2017 and spring semester of 2018 are shown. Keywords:
