Abstract:
For the Institutions of Higher Education it is a priority to provide quality education to enable graduates with better opportunities to join the workforce. One way to know the quality of educational services a university offers is identifying the satisfaction of students during their stay, in order to recognize the factors that need to be improved to establish strategies that provide the necessary elements to perfect the educational services. This paper shows preliminary results of a research that aims to identify the satisfaction of university students in relation to elements quality education such as the teaching-learning process, the respectful treatment students receive from the people they should deal with to achieve their academic and the infrastructure elements, the results correspond to the students of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of a public university located in Southeastern Mexico. The research was quantitative, descriptive and correlational in which a non-experimental and cross-sectional design was taken. The reliability of the research instrument was calculated using Cronbach Alpha coefficient which reported 0.869 accuracy. The results of descriptive statistics reported little satisfaction in the teaching-learning process dimension; in the dimension of persons with whom the student deal with, students responded that they are satisfied only on items related to the respectful treatment they receive from their tutors and from the staff of local computer and photocopying services, in the other questions in this dimension little satisfaction was found; the lowest average was obtained in the dimension of infrastructure elements. The analysis of variance ANOVA reported no statistically significant differences in the dimensions of academic satisfaction in relation to: qualifications, age, gender and school year. The Pearson correlation showed no relationship in the dimensions of academic satisfaction with the socio-demographic variables of students. These results are intended to be useful for decision-making in this educational institution.
