In teaching languages online, it is crucial to be equipped with knowledge and mastery of the different possibilities offered by the internet: online courses, video conferencing or platforms and applications for teaching and learning languages. To achieve maximum success in online language courses, it is very important to determine the profile of students to be able to offer the course that best suit their needs. In particular, attention must be given to the students’ demographic aspects such as nationality, age, motivation, to be able to offer relevant course contents, objectives, methodology and materials. Another key to success in online courses is the adequate training of the teachers who will handle the lessons.

This article will analyze the different options in online language education. It will discuss guidelines on how to get the most out of each of the various methods that currently exist. It will also discuss the steps to be undertaken to optimize online courses. It will also highlight what actions to avoid to ensure success in online teaching.
