USING CO2 AS A REFRIGERANT IN EDUCATIONAL FIELD (REFCO2)

This paper deals at presenting the educational project REFCO2 developed in the framework of PROMECE2014 public competition addressed to public secondary schools or professional training institutes. The aim of the cited public competition is the design and development of projects that allow improving learning in order to accomplish the Horizon 2020 objectives. In particular, in the case of Spain, the objective is to increase the number of students who finish their studies up to 85%.

The presented work is focused on the use of CO2 as a natural refrigerant in secondary schools or professional training institutes which provide education in the field of artificial production. Throughout this program, students and teachers will be trained using CO2 as a refrigerant in subcritical and supercritical cycles, preparing them for new incoming European Regulations focused on the Climate Action-

To achieve the objectives pursued an educational refrigeration equipment has been designed in cooperation with Jaume I University. This equipment will be finished at the end of this year and will be used in the next academic course 2015/16. The present work show how the educational equipment are being designed and developed.
