Abstract:
The Machine Tool Division of the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao arises as a cooperative initiative in which the public administrations (Basque Government and Diputaciones of Bizkaia and Alava) and the machine tool sector (AFM/INVEMA, Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers) join their efforts with the objectives of training specialized engineers, carrying out R&D Projects and diffusing of activities towards society. Every year, 20 final year engineering students follow a specific training programme. Machine tool companies participate in the definition of the contents of the course. After this period, in which practical activities have a major role, the students continue their training carrying out their Final Year Project granted in industrial companies. In this paper, the authors analyze the structure of the initiative, as well as the results after the first year running.
