Abstract:
In recent years, Higher Education has undergone many changes with the aim of adapting University to the new social context, not only in terms of technical training -such as teaching methods and quality of the learning processes-, but also at student employability level -through the acquisition of transversal competencies, which have an increasing demand by companies-. Following these guidelines, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has included in its Strategic Plan UPV-2015-2020 the following objective: "to be a leader in quality teaching and training aimed to fulfill the needs of the Society”. One of the many initiatives undertaken to achieve this objective is the implementation of an ambitious project where the development, evaluation and certification of thirteen transversal competencies are considered. To accomplish with this vast project, which includes all degrees and masters of the UPV, it has been necessary to create Working Groups (WG) dedicated to develop each of the thirteen competencies. All WG are coordinated by a pedagogical expert from the Educational Sciences Institute of the UPV and include several professors that have already worked in innovation in education.

In this context, this work shows the activities undertaken by the working group of the UPV dedicated to the transversal competency Time Planning and Management. The group includes the pedagogical expert and four UPV professors that teach in different educational levels (degree and master) in the areas of biotechnology, industry, telecommunications or arts. Specifically the work under undertaken included: definition of three skill levels for the acquisition of this competency; development of rubrics; design of activities tests in five subjects of the UPV (degree and master); pilot tests the five subjects; and, production of resources. All the work performed had the objective of helping professors that want to put into practice the transversal competency Time Planning and Management in their subjects.
