Abstract:
Due to Coronavirus Pandemic, the transition from the classroom to the remote learning has made teaching/learning entirely different and an involuntary experience for both teachers and students in the Georgian context. The goal of the work is to study the motivation factors that contribute to better student engagement and quality participation in the online learning process. Research methods: observation, questionnaire survey, interview were used to find out students attitude, expectations and involvement in online learning in higher education. The consequences of the research have made it obvious that the desire to learn and participate in the online lectures was triggered by some crucial factors, such as, teachers’ attitude, prior preparation, flexibility and encouragement that play a major role in maintaining interest among students in distant learning. Besides, various activities, techniques and teaching strategies contributing to active participation and development of language skills could boost students motivation and improve their performance. However, much work needs to be done to switch to high-quality distance education.
