Abstract:
Introduction:
Nowadays, the international interest focuses on the link between the educational theories and real-life applications. The transmission of informatics data in teaching to practical examples, especially in the interior design field - where science and art meet-, becomes the responsibility of the senior educators.
Lighting design is one of the theoretical sectors in any built environment. Lighting is a major tool for life, either natural or artificial; we need physical light in our life. Moreover, the sustainable facilities, in lighting, evolved from being a trend to being a necessity. All this information about light, as theories, need a conduction to practical application in a project design type to achieve a successful educational process.
Paper Problem:
Solar Decathlon Middle East (SDME 2018-2020), is a competition that explores unique local and regional characteristics, in a collegiate model that challenge students to design and build solar-powered houses. Among the ten contests, the comfort condition, where the objective is to evaluate the capacity for providing interior comfort through the control of temperature, humidity, daylighting, indoor air quality and acoustic performance. Lighting design here becomes one of the challenges of the interior team and is the main research problem. Teamwork, in this case, is a great tool to reach the completion stage, specifically to such a targeted result and the applied design that encompasses the regulations of the competition; the sustainability requirements, the practice of teamwork, and the transmission of experience are core points in this research problem.
Paper Goal:
This paper has a target to demonstrate a proposal for an optimum sustainable lighting solution for the SDME 2018-2020 competition for one of the collegial competitors. The teamwork involves senior and junior educators, in addition to the team of students. It is a great opportunity to link the theories and the applicable example, to transmit the experience to the juniors, to reach an optimal solution for this specific point within the full competition.
Paper Methodology:
This paper will follow the theoretical and applicable methodology for the sustainable lighting design of the competition unit as a proposal from the interior design team. This proposal will be a matter of discussion from the full competition team, where the acceptance or rejection is available. From the interior design team, the solution should be optimistic in favor of all the design and the application entries data. Keywords:
