Abstract:
Education is a “key term” regarding development and progress of any country. Great nation endeavor to assume highest standing by devoting a large portion of its outcomes for education and scientific researches. As a consequence, it is one important element for the country success and upgrade, thus by finding solutions in divers subjects as; economical, social, industrial, and cultural.
Throughout developing the educational system, and assuring its quality in all levels, professional experts should be involved in all specialism to set quality standards to all curriculums on scientific methodology basis. These principles have clear purpose, preparing and graduating young generations having talents and abilities as well as knowledge. These generations will help the community to build up, and to challenge in the international market. To reach such stage, a qualify level of education is needed. This education level should coincidence with the international standards and accredited by the authorities.
The accreditation standards are developing in a basis of time period, to ensure the quality required. These criteria supposed to be well known by the academic development staff. These standards are designed to evaluate, and to assess, as well as to assure the curriculum quality on international levels. Accreditation Standards are developed in Europe, in the States, and in the Arab Country as well.
All serious and responsible college and programs, in all specialization, seek to develop and to guarantee their program excellence based on accreditation standards. This research problem lay on the methods and approaches to apply the accreditation standards on the curriculum of interior design, to upgrade and promote it, within the quality assurance culture.
The application of the accreditation standards on the curriculum of interior design in Ajman University of Science and Technology (UAE) submitted in June 2011, as an author experience, will be the main goal of this research. Accreditation standards followed in UAE are based on the Standards for Licensures and Accreditation of the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The CAA publishes its standards each four years, so a perfect evaluation on cycle studies. The standards include ten major points: Mission and Institutional Effectiveness; Organization, Governance, and Leadership; the Academic Program; Faculty and Professional Staff; Students; Library and Other Information Resources; Physical and Technology Resources; Fiscal Resources; Public Disclosure and Integrity; Research.
The academic program is the key point in any specialism, thus it will be the main topic of the research to be an example application of quality assurance and accreditation standards implementation. It will expose the different elements of proving quality assurance and the developments arise from the different assessment tools.
